Product Description

Miyama City, located south of Fukuoka, is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and the sea, and has long thrived with agriculture at its core. Its rice farming history is particularly ancient, even appearing in the historical text Nihon Shoki, making it one of Japan's oldest rice-growing regions.

Miyama is also known for its deep cultural heritage, with hundreds of local shrines that celebrate the region's rich history through festivals. The rice used in these ceremonies is a symbol of respect for the land and its bounty, passed down through generations.

Cultivated according to the lunar calendar, this rice is grown in a region where the moon's gravitational pull creates one of Japan's most dramatic tidal changes. This connection to nature brings a unique energy to the rice, resulting in a taste that reflects both the land and its traditions.

The rice, carefully cultivated with dedication, is milled according to the season, time of day, weather, humidity, and temperature.

Matsuo’s commitment comes from the meticulous techniques passed down from his predecessors and his heartfelt wish for the rice to be as delicious as possible. With his deep knowledge of rice, each grain he mills carries the passion and care of its producer
